Spoke at length with Dr. Richard Haines last evening. Among other newsettes,
he informed me of the inception of a groundbreaking new international
cooperative called the Joint American-Soviet Aerial Anomaly Federation. Haines
is co-chair, along with Vladimir Rubtsov, one of Russia's leading Ufologists.
This is a giant step forward for international ufology, and I hope we can find
a way to interact with the group and expedite their communications.

TINY BUG IN H.S. 'GENOME' CAUSES MASSIVE HUMANITY FAILURE

Officials responsible for a spiral galaxy near the middle section of the
universe revealed today that a small error in an encoding for the life form
'Homo sapiens' was responsible for the near extinction of the partly
intelligent species.  The change had been introduced during routine maintenance
of the life form.  Officials explained that the maintenance had been intended
to improve the survivability of the species, but inadequate testing had caused
it to become suspectible to a new sexually transmitted disease.

Senior universe officials expressed disappointment in the control of
the life forms in the galaxy, citing a series of malfunctions,
especially near a yellow star at the edge.  The H.S. species has
required several patches in the field and still seems unstable.  The
latest change was not tested in alternative universes due to lax
controls and lack of funding.

Other officials cited inadequate specification and design review.  'How can we
guarantee that the species works without a formal definition of what it is?'
lamented one senior observer.  'These things just look like collections of
cells - they just sort of grow.  There's no mathematical model that can be used
to verify it.  I don't see how they ever got it started in the first place.'

Insiders feel that the species can be rescued, but expressed doubt
about its long-term viability.  The estimate of the time needed for a
thorough review of the documentation, writing the formal specifications,
and verifying the genome encoding, expressibility, and environmental
testing, is greater than the lifetime of the universe.

Meanwhile, yet another mutation and alteration of the local laws of physics
will be required to back out of this particular upgrade.  With funding
already stretched, this setback might just spell the end of H.S.

The formally verified Vulcan species, originally slated for production
next year, has been delayed due to a series of technical problems and is
now scheduled for beta testing after the next big bang.

I have read the past several digests with great interest, as the
material from Belgium, the crop circle item(s), and the summarization
of the info relating to the space exploration exhibition and the
possible alien artifacts have provided much food for thought.
Shortly after reading this, I was enjoying my latest copy of _World
Press Review_ (Aug. 1991), a magazine providing world 'news and
views' from non-US sources when I had to read and then re-read one
bit several times to make sure I wasn't missing something.

(In a section pertaining to Persian Gulf events, a brief exerpt from
the _Jerusalem Post_):

        'Saddam again commands one of the most powerful military
        machines in the region... Given his ability to deceive,
        there is little doubt that he will remain in possession of
        nuclear, chemical, and biological [weapons] capability.
        Soon it will not be only visitors from another planet
        who find it difficult to believe that Desert Storm actually
        happened.'

That is the _entire_ quote, exactly as it appears in the magazine,
and it is laid out in such a blase fashion that I can't help but
wonder if the translation is a little off the mark. Given the other
things I had just read, it certainly caught my eye.

Now how does that pop dance tune go again, something like: Things
that make you go Hmmm... ? ;-)

Following is a recent article in the news.  Oddly enough, there was no
mention made of a possible connection to UFO's.  Also oddly enough,
while the people quoted in the article suggest that the mutes have been
an ongoing problem, it is the first article on it in the Phx papers in
quite a while.  Also rather irritating to me is that they allow the
"authourities" to make reference to third hand stuff they have heard
about what satanists do but make it sound like they have some hard
evidence it is satanists.  In all the reports and investigations of
mutes they never seem to track down these supposed satanists
perpetrators.

   TUCSON - A satanic cult is being
 blamed for the death and mutilation
 of eight cattle and a horse in south-
 eastern Arizona.
  "There have been nine killings and
 mutilations  since  November,"  the
 Most recent On July 20, Bill Allen,
 associate director of the animal ser-
 vices divsion of the Arizona Depart-
 ment of Agriculture, said Tuesday.
   "We  have   evidence  indicating
 satanic activity," he added. "Some of
 the  indications are the removal of
 sexual organs from  cattle  and  the
draining of blood from the body. We
saw that sort of thing."
  Allen said Satanists  might use the
organs for some sort of fetish, and the
blood can be used in a ritual of bap-
tism by blood or drinking of blood."
  Lt. Filiberto Solano, an investigator
and law enforcement officer with the
animal services division, said four of
the carcasses were found in the San
Rafael  Valley  south  of  Sonoita  in
Santa Cruz County. One was found
north of Sonoita in Pima County and
the remainder were found in Cochise
County west and southwest of Sierra
Vista.
  "We don't know the cause of death
of  the  animals.  That's  still  under
investigation," Solano said. "But there
were definitely satanic overtones in
the mutilations.
  "With cows, they took the udder or
part of it, the sex organ and the anus,"
he said. "And on some of them we
found mutilations in the ear and the
tail... One of the animals was a bull.
They took the testicles, the scrotum,
the penis, the anus, the tongue and the
right ear. "
  Solano said investigators are cer -
 tain the mutilations aren't the work of
 predators or scavengers.
  "The body parts have been cut off."
he said. "And those parts are all they
take. There's no sign of blood at the
scene, so apparently they're taking
the blood, too. "
  Investigators have turned up addi-
tional  signs  of  satanic  practices,
Solano said.
  "We've  found  altars  around  the
nearby Huachuca Mountains, altars
made of rocks, " he said.

    On Tuesday of last week an entirely new crop formation appeared
for the first time near West Woods, Lockeridge. From the air this
looks like an enormous fish, whale or dolphin 200 ft long. At each
end straight pathways of flattened crop lead out into the centre of
large rings 60 ft in diameter. The two paths are co-linear and form
the central axis of the formation about which it is symmetrical.
On either side of this great fish-shape are other pathways each slanted
backwards at 45 deg. These have the appearance of flippers, or perhaps
the dorsal and ventral fins of this marine animal.

    Whether this represents a whale, a dolphin or other fish, hooked
between two great rings is not clear. Certainly the elongated tapering
body which which has filled out from a swirled circle at its centre is
something never previously seen. Last Thursday a further identical
formation appeared near Beckhampton, three miles away. One interesting
facet is that the plain ring with a straight path to its centre is one
element of the "unbelievable" pictogram at Barbury Castle, which
Dr Meaden has had to say is a hoax.

    On Thursday a friend of mine was being interviewed for a Channel 4
documentary in the first "whale" at Lockeridge. This proved almost
impossible due to the noise of helicopters and microlights above.
He met Robert Watts who was trying to film the formation for his new
movie at the same time. He is a film-maker who helped George Lucas
produce 'Star Wars' and who made movies like 'Indiana Jones and the
Temple of Doom', etc. His colossal helicopter which roared overhead,
and to which he gave instructions through a walkie- talkie, made the
Robinson my friend was in look like a toy.

    Footage of the Circles will be used in his latest movie,
'Once upon a time in the Universe', which will be released in late 1992.
Above in the helicopter they were using a fabulously expensive VistaVision
movie camera, one of only three in the world. Talking to him later they
discovered that he was extremely knowledgable about the circles and had
a very good insight into the circles nature .
My friend was flattered to hear that he attributed this to some extent
to what he had written in 'The Crop Circle Enigma'. (Published by CCCS)

    In the last few days two more similar formations have appeared in the
Silbury Hill area. The latest ones are smaller and have the end rings over-
lapping the tapering ends of the "fish-body". The two flippers are missing.
One of these formations is near the end of Stone Avenue, an avenue of
menhirs running S. from the great Stone Circle at Avebury. The connection
between the dowsable energy lines which run through this Stone Circle
and along Stone Avenue and the new formations seems undoubted.
This is immediately next to the energy line whose remarkable variations
had been dowsed during the earlier months of this year. And beside this
new formation is a precise semicircle which is also something not
previously seen.

Reports are coming in of circles and larger formations in Cambridgeshire,
Nottinghamshire, Cornwall, Kent, Essex, Buckinghamshire and Hampshire
all of which have been found in the last few days.  There are many
different shapes, some completely new like the strange curly designs
being found near Cheesefoot Head. A quincunx formation in which one
of the four satellites is replaced by a triangle has appeared near
Chequers, a Prime Ministerial residence near High Wycombe. I am told
that the arrow-like triangle points straight at Chequers.

There is a few formations in Cambridgeshire last weekend. Just a simple
pictogram or two at Sutton near Ely where circles have never previously
appeared and a magnificent 200ft diameter ring (10 ft wide) where the
standing wheat in the middle is quite undisturbed. The latter, at Elton,
was found one year to the day after a similar formation in the same
place in 1990. The field where this ring and a smaller ring and circle
are situated is right over the site of ancient Durobrivae, the second
largest settlement in Roman Britain.

  I saw a couple of fairly bright Perseids Monday night that looked
greenish to me. My wife said said they looked orange to her, but my
brother-in-law also said they looked green. Could be very related to
individual color perception.
  At any rate, these few certainly wouldn't be considered fireballs.

Well, although the attitude of secrecy may have it's national security
considerations, it has been done to an extreme in my opinion.

I don't know if you've ever seen this, but if you can get ahold of
a tape called "UFO's are Real", I think you would find it most
interesting. It builds a pretty good case, in my opinion. Wendelle
Stevens,Bruce Maccabee, Stanton Friedman and many others have
segments that help explain in various ways why "all this secrecy"
has prevailed for so many years.

Yeah, I've seen a green fireball falling in an early
evening sky.  Quite bright, about fall '88, 7:30 pm.

It appearred to be tumbling, tail about three degrees
long, strictly ballistic flight from upper atmosphere.
I heard later that it was a Soviet device, the color
stemming from the alloys used and propellents aboard.

Hi, Jim

That was a short, but most interesting article you posted on the
cattle mutilations discovered in SE Arizona. However, the story
does raise some further questions in my mind.

First of all, if the latest mutilation was discovered on July 20th,
why is the story only now being published, almost 4 weeks after the
event? Secondly, if these "killings" (9 in total) have been
occurring since November of '90, why have they not been reported
until now? Perhaps they were, and I am just unaware.

It is also crucial to learn the manner in which the various organs
and body parts were excised. IF these were cult killings, the
wounds should by somewhat irregular in appearance, but not to the
point of displaying tissue tearing as would be the case in
predation. If the wounds were caused by a more adept surgeon using
more sophisticated equipment, this too would be obvious. Since we
are lacking a detailed wound description in this case, it is
difficult to make an accurate determination at this time.

Lt. Solano stated "...We don't know the cause of death of the
animals. That's still under investigation...". Do you mean to tell
me he's been investigating these 9 killings since last November,
and still has not been able to come up with a cause of death? Now
that's a bit hard to believe! The fact that the animal carcasses
and sites of discovery were found to be "bloodless" is of course a
telltale sign of something other than a cult killing.

I'm sure that John Altshuler, M.D. who works closely with Linda
Moulton-Howe, would love to get some tissue samples for analysis.
I hope someone has contacted him. BTW, if any readers have any
further information on this case, Dr. Altshuler's mailing address
